There are 5 factors: Material, Man, Method, Machine, Medium (Environment) which can indirectly or directly affect the quality of painted planter. Today, I’d like to focus on the climate, specially climate in South of Vietnam where our factory locates.
The climate of this this region is Tropical monsoon climate characterized by 2 seasons: “Sunny” and “Rainy”. Rainny is lasting from the middle of May until the end of November in a year.
The temperuture is a little hot and stable around 25 – 350C.
The humidity* is high (average is 78.3% in a year). In the rainy season, I may reach 83 – 85%
The sunny season is good for painting the pots, because a little high temp. can make the paint layer dry faster.
However, the rainy is not suitable for painting the pots, because at that time the humidity in the atmosphere is very high (~85%), which directly affect the adhesion of paint layer on the surface of the concrete planter (1).
When the adhesion is weak, there is the high risk of trouble with the paint layer such as : peel off, paint layer become yeallow.

a. Manufacturing based on current season
- “We focus on molding and grinding in the rainy season” - It is clear that the humidity in the rainy season is very high and it is very useful for concrete, and also it can also decrease the raito of cracked planter in molding process, therefore, we take the advantage of this characteristics to prepare the raw planters which will be used to paint in the sunny season.
b. Control the humidity of painting area
- In some cases, it cannot apply manufacturing based on season. For example: new customer, support customer due to trouble,…..In these cases, we have to paint even in the rainy season and assure the quality of the painting layer.
- We invest the painting with the air-conditioning system which can support to control humidity in the range which are suitable for painting. However, the productivity, of course, much goes down, compared to the sunny season (about 40% down).
